MUSCLEFORGE / PRIVACY
MuscleForge Privacy Policy
Version 1.2 · Updated October 30, 2026
This policy explains how MuscleForge handles workout records, media, Health data, optional cloud sync, and data sharing when you configure your own AI service.
Scope and contact
This policy covers the MuscleForge iPhone and iPad app, its companion Apple Watch app, and related support. Beijing Woyu Technology Co., Ltd. provides this website and support channel; the app’s publisher is identified on the App Store. This policy does not replace the privacy rules of Apple services or the AI provider you choose.
Workout data and preferences
The app processes plans, exercises, set counts, actual reps, optional weights, dates, durations, rest records, notes, and preferences for logging, timing, history, and statistics. Records are stored in a local database and files. When enabled, relevant data also uses Apple cloud services as described below. Ordinary workout logging requires no Woyu account and includes no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party behavioral analytics SDK.
Photos, video, and microphone
When you choose to capture media, the app uses the camera for photos or video and the microphone for recorded audio. Reference media selected through the system photo picker, workout media, linked sets, and marked moments support reference, playback, trimming, and export. Saving to Photos may require add permission. Video may contain appearance, voices, or people nearby; consider this before recording or sharing.
Local movement capture can extract poses, joint angles, relative positions, and timing on your device for skeleton playback and workout analysis. It is not used for face or identity recognition and does not automatically publish media. Optional AI sharing is described below; AI requests exclude video, screenshots, and raw image coordinates.
Apple Health data
Health features require system authorization. The app may read workouts, Apple Watch active energy, heart rate, resting heart rate, date of birth, and biological sex for monitoring, rest references, and associating existing energy samples. Workout energy uses available Apple Watch active-energy samples from the workout period. It does not fill missing calories using default body weight, heart-rate, or MET formulas or duplicate existing energy samples. Without reliable energy data, workouts and duration can still be saved. iPhone and Watch may save workouts or measured heart rate as authorized and supported by actual sampling.
If you choose the AI plan body-details feature, you can read or enter height, current weight, and age band, review them locally, and explicitly agree to share them for that conversation. Your date of birth is not sent; manual edits are not written back to Apple Health. Permission to read Health is not consent to share it with an AI service. You can refuse or revoke data permissions without blocking ordinary plans and set logging. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, profiling, sale, or data brokering. AI suggestions and monitoring metrics are not medical assessments.
Your own AI service and data sharing
AI is optional. Woyu currently provides no MuscleForge AI gateway, model credits, or top-ups and is not the default AI request recipient. You supply an HTTPS address compatible with OpenAI Chat Completions, a model name, and an API key. Requests go directly from your device to that address, which may use its own model providers. Fees, availability, retention, model training, and deletion follow your chosen provider’s rules. Review its terms and privacy policy before configuring it.
AI planning sends the current conversation, draft, all nondeleted plans, and recent training references for each. Height, current weight, and age band are shared only after you review and agree for the current conversation. Photos, videos, and heart rate are excluded. Changing or withdrawing body details restarts the conversation; already sent content cannot be recalled.
Workout reviews send records, summaries, and available joint angles, relative positions, timing, and other movement metrics. They exclude video, screenshots, and raw image coordinates. Heart-rate summaries require a separate choice. Automatic reviews and heart-rate sharing are off by default. Enabling automatic reviews allows sending after workouts; enabling heart rate also shares available summaries. Saving configuration requires confirmation after the sharing notice and does not itself make an AI request.
Not configuring AI or turning it off does not prevent ordinary plans, set logging, timers, or recording. AI output is a training reference, can be incomplete or incorrect, and is not a medical diagnosis, movement-safety certification, or personalized load prescription.
iCloud and CloudKit synchronization
When cloud sync and Apple services are available, plans, exercises, sets, workouts, marked moments, movement analysis, and ordinary reviews without health interpretation can sync through a CloudKit private database. Media and exercise attachments can use iCloud file storage. Heart-rate samples, summaries, and AI interpretations based on heart rate are excluded from these CloudKit uploads. Historical reports that may have inherited unverified health interpretation stay local; ordinary historical reviews still sync.
Each device can read authorized heart rate from its own Apple Health store and show a local summary and chart beside the workout review. With Health sync enabled for the same Apple Account, Apple can synchronize relevant data through its Health service. Availability depends on system sync, device support, and permissions, and may be delayed. This does not sync heart-rate-conditioned AI text through CloudKit.
Updated clients queue removal of excluded health interpretations from known older cloud records for the next successful sync. Offline or outdated devices and older recovery zones may still hold historical copies; updating locally does not immediately erase all cloud copies. Local reports and full backups explicitly exported by the user are preserved.
Apple handles accounts, storage, and sync under its rules. Sync may be enabled by default. Turning it off stops future transfers without erasing existing copies. Records and media transfer separately; seeing a record does not establish a complete video backup. AI plan conversations, temporary body details, service addresses, models, and API keys are excluded from the app’s workout cloud sync.
Watch communication, notifications, and sharing
Apple device-connectivity mechanisms transmit plan snapshots, workout progress, control commands, connection state, and relevant health readings between your paired iPhone and Watch for wrist controls and display. Notification permission supports workout or rest reminders and can be disabled in system settings. Files or requests you deliberately export, share, or open with an external service are handled by that destination under its own privacy rules. We do not automatically share your workouts with other users or require contacts or location for ordinary training.
Website visits and support communications
The app does not automatically upload workout records or media to the Woyu website as support materials. Website hosting may process IP addresses, request paths and times, browser information, and security logs to serve pages and maintain security; see the website privacy policy. If you email support, we process your email address, message, and version details, screenshots, or logs you voluntarily provide to respond, troubleshoot, and handle necessary security, disputes, or legal matters. Do not send passwords, verification codes, unnecessary health data, or private workout media.
Retention, security, and copies
Local workout data and media generally remain until you delete them or remove app data. Copies in the cloud, Apple Health, system backups, and export destinations must be managed separately. Full backups can contain plans, workout records, analysis or review results, videos, and photos, including sensitive content you saved. Protect the file and its destination. Plan-only export is not a full backup.
The service address, model, and API key are stored together only in this device’s Keychain, outside workout backups and workout cloud sync. Temporary AI conversations and plan body details stay in the current conversation’s memory and are excluded from workout backups. Support mail is kept only as needed for support and necessary security, disputes, or legal obligations. Your selected AI provider may retain requests and outputs under its own policy. The app cannot promise that provider’s retention, deletion, or model-training practices.
Your choices and rights
You can view, edit, or delete workout records and manage recording, sync, notifications, and system permissions. Backup & Restore can export plans or full backups and merge restored records. Revoking access, disabling sync, or uninstalling does not automatically erase copies in Apple Health, iCloud, or export destinations. Clearing cloud workout data concerns structured records and should not be treated as deletion of all media or Health data.
AI settings let you disable automatic reviews and heart-rate sharing or remove the service configuration. Changing services requires re-entering the key and confirming sharing, cancels pending reviews, and restarts the plan conversation. The app cannot recall sent content; direct access, correction, or deletion requests to your selected provider. For support information we directly process, contact hello@woyuit.com. Use Apple’s management tools for Apple-managed data; we can help explain the steps.
Children, changes, and contact
The app is intended for general workout users and is not directed specifically at children. Minors should use workout and media features with a guardian's guidance and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information to support. If features, data practices, or the service provider materially change, we will update this policy and provide notice or obtain necessary authorization as applicable. For privacy questions, contact Beijing Woyu Technology Co., Ltd. at hello@woyuit.com.
